St Joseph’s English Higher Primary School is an unaided institution owned and managed by the Society of Sisters of St Joseph of Tarbes. It was founded in the year 1956 by the invitation offered to us to start a school at Chitradurga. It is an UNAIDED MINORITY SCHOOL RECOGNIZED by the Government of Karnataka. We feel proud that our school caters to the average students with a very affordable cost.
We are completing 64 years of dedicated services, at this point, what comes to my mind is that, Success comes to those who work hard and stays with those who don’t rest on the laurels of the past. The school which had a very humble beginning in 1964 headed by Rev Mother Michael, an ardent lover of Jesus Christ has seen in her a true guide, a leader, mentor, a mother to thousands of children who passes through her.
The children who walk today into the portals of our school will not just love the school but learn to face the life’s challenges and bear witness to the life of oneness, of unity, of love and brotherhood. They are given ample opportunities to cultivate the values of sharing and working in teams for various activities promoting the spirit of equality.
Over the span of years, across the milestone through the decades passes by SJC institution has grown in the spirit of simplicity and dedicated service, upholding the motto of our foundresses “May they all be one”. Down the years, this institution stands tall even today for nurturing the spirit of unity, equality which is a need of the hour that sees the crisis of discrimination in its various forms.
Wading through this present century, we do not have a moment to loose but engage in preparing our students to build a society and a nation at large keeping in mind the 4C’s

It is noteworthy to mention that the Catholic Bishop’ Conference of India – New Delhi has acknowledged ST JOSEPH’S CONVENT ENGLISH HIGHER PRIMARY SCHOOL – CHITRADURGA as one that imparts value based education based on the imparts value based education based on the GOSPEL values to such a commendable level as to earn the title: “THE PRIDE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH”.
